Things I treasure about Worthington today or is the walkability in old Worthington and the preservation of the historic buildings in their use of the buildings, for example the radiant yoga studio next to Dewey‘s pizza. I also love the tree canopy cover, and the preservation of the old growth trees throughout the city. |

Worthington, even as part of a large city, feels like a small town. I love the feeling of community and I love that I’m able to raise my kids here. |

Fifteen years ago we fell in love the with charm of Old Worthington. We love the walkability of this area of Worthington, along with the shops and restaurants that are available to enjoy. There is a real warm welcoming feeling that radiates from this area of Worthington. The community activities that are provided downtown and village green areas are also a bonus, ie. Concerts on the Green, Worthington Arts Festival, Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Worthington Farmers Market is also a big hit for us. |

The cultural center of Old Worthington is its downtown. the markets, shops, and events are for everyone. Old Worthington is unique in that sense. Its culture is not derived from a club, faith, or neighborhood. Leaders should continue this path of cultivating community. Worthington is as old as Ohio and we should celebrate the craftsman and artistic expression of its architecture both commercially and residentially. We have beautiful, unique craftsman homes and boldly design mid-century modern homes along with everything in between. We should celebrate this diversity of architecture while maintaining the spirit of the neighborhood and communities initial intent. i.e. Don’t design a country farmhouse in the mid-century neighborhood and don’t build a modern in a traditional colonial neighborhood. Celebrate the design language and deveristy of the community by reinforcing its themes. |

The cultural center of Worthington, is its downtown. The markets, shops and community events are for everyone. The cultural centers of other communities may be club or a place of worship, etc whereas the community members have to make a choice of where they are ‘in’ or ‘out’ in order to truly imbibe in the culture and events of the community. Old Worthington is unique because its culture serves all in the community. |

The historical value of what we have. I have lived in Worthington for 73 years and the uptown community Square is exactly and it was when I went to school in the junior high school next to the old library! The village green is just a beautiful place and it always has been and it should be kept that way and the tradition of what is Worthington. I went to school with many classmates that were in the United Methodist children home. Again, it’s about tradition. There is plenty of land outside of Worthington that can be developed. Thank you. |

Walkability is very important. The city has a lot of sidewalks and these include curb cuts for ADA purposes which has the added benefit of being good for strollers, carts and young bicyclists. Further, there are many places that are in walking distance from one’s residence, parks, schools, libraries, and businesses (including hardware, grocery, pharmacy, and pet supplies), restaurants, places of worship, farmer’s market, and many others), making walks rewarding. Accessibility to nature. Many neighborhoods have mature trees that offer shade and reduce the impact of the heat in the summer and provide visual interest and habitats all year round. It might be taken for granted, but the tree canopy in Worthington is substantial and it enriches our environment considerably. We also have an abundance of parks, both large scale and connected (Olentangy Trail) and smaller neighborhood parks that help bring our community together in activity. Friendly neighbors who volunteer their time and energy to help the community in a variety of ways. Worthington has many opportunities for people to be involved in their neighborhoods and the community as a whole. From community events likes neighborhood garage sales, block watches, free cycles, block parties, ravine clean ups, to City-wide activities (farmer’s market, 4th of July, 1st Thursdays, Worthington Arts Festival) to Committees concerned with the governance of the City (Community Relations Committee, Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, Architectural Review Board, etc.), there are many ways for people to be involved and get to know their neighbors. City services that help keep the City safe, clean, and functioning are also cheerished. |
