Excellent city services. Vibrant downtown. Diverse neighborhoods — not every house looks alike; not every family looks alike.

* The “sense of place” … that Worthington is a distinctive area with a sense of community and local identity and character that instill pride in the residents and have a positive reputation in the city and region.
* This historical nature of the area, centering on Old Worthington, with signs, building styles, and names of places, institutions, and businesses that draw attention to the historical roots of Worthington, which in turn lends a quality of dignity and proclaims the value placed on tradition and heritage that are integral to the identity and character of Worthington.
* The overall high quality of life, including the following communal resources:
* The vibrant cultural and artistic life, including community centers, performances, exhibitions, a broad array of classes, and themed festivals and outdoor markets.
* The distribution, high quality, and rapid availability of EMT, fire, and police services.
* The easy proximity throughout the community of a broad spectrum of resources and services (e.g., medical, wellness, educational, financial, religious) and of shopping opportunities spanning necessities, luxuries (I include chocolate in this category), and specialty boutique items.
* We have many family-owned businesses, which contributes to the sense of place.
* The shopping areas, especially in Old Worthington, but including the Wilson Road corridor, have a consistent and appealing aesthetic rather than being broken up by modern eyesores.
* The focus on environmental sustainability, including a robust recycling and composting program, free-cycle days, special recycling events (e.g., for medications, Styrofoam, shredding, small electronics), educational outreach, and ample donation destinations and opportunities.
* The high quality of the schools.
* All of these features draw investment and keep property values high, which feed into the tax base.

Love the smaller community and the many events held by the Worthington partnership! Old Worthington is a great spot to walk around, eat, shop, and bring visitors.

The small town feel, the Green, and the green space that used to be the Methodist Children’s Home.

Our police, fire, and EMS services are outstanding.
Worthington values diversity and remains committed to helping others. The Worthington Resource Pantry exemplifies this dedication.
Our community parks, pool, library, and senior center are excellent. Worthington Green and downtown bring everyone together through dining, concerts, and parades.
By preserving zoning, Worthington remains a charming and beautiful community.

Two things: the downtown area, and the schools.

The downtown area allows my family to do so much of our business without leaving Worthington. We can buy groceries at the Farmers Market, buy clothes (or at least I can), go out to eat, or do things like get a new battery put in a watch. The library, the grocery store, two pharmacies, a gas station – so much of what we need is right there, and WALKABLE. It’s almost an old-fashioned small-town experience.

The other thing I treasure is the schools. My husband and I moved here before we even had kids, and while we love the schools for our children, we felt that, even if we never had kids, we still wanted to live in a community that values education and families.

Historical center, farmers market, arts at MAC and High Road Gallery, community center for classes and workout, well kept neighborhoods, our sister city relationship with Sayama, Japan, easy access to the rest of central Ohio, and our church is here.

It still has the small town feel.
I love the Rec CTR but wish those of us on Medicaid could get in free like those who have Silver Sneakers. We don’t have it and I really struggle to come up with $15/month.

The charm of Old Worthington, the small community feel, walk ability to so many parks, restaurants, amenities, the Worthington Community Center, the diversity at the schools

July 31, 2025 at 1:53 pm

The small town feel, we live close enough to downtown Worthington to be able to walk to businesses and activities downtown. The city services, I love that the streets are plowed , the trash is picked up on the same day each week and I really appreciate that when I call a city department, I talk to a real person! Of course, i love the schools, my husband, 2 children and 1 grandchild went through Worthington Schools.
