I love the communal activities and the celebration of its residents — Pride, Juneteenth, local arts and vendors via the farmers market and beyond. It’s such a warm, inviting community.

I absolutely cherish our vibrant downtown, the scenic bike paths, the beautiful parks, and the wonderful schools. Each element adds so much to our community’s character and charm!

I most treasure Worthington’s history, location and sense of community.

Worthington is a chest full of treasures. The schools, parks and playgrounds, neighborhoods, and diverse Old Worthington events are treasures that are flowing out of the chest. There are still many treasures to be discovered. I hope that attractive and sustainable mixed use developments can be created, more restaurants (including fast food) will be welcomed, and affordable housing can be developed that attract new individuals and families with diverse backgrounds, yet maintains a desirable place to call home to seniors.

I treasure our community gems like the quality schools, libraries, great community center, the green and downtown area that has a quaint small town feel. I like the connection to the walking paths by the olentangy. I also appreciate the sense that the city employees are always striving to make worthington a better place and have a very visible presence in the community. The government feels very accessible. It feels like a great place to raise kids safely and with community.

1. The GORGEOUS Olentangy PARKLANDS with its priceless gem of the mile-long Chip Trail–a natural spot full of lovely trees & bushes that feel like “wild-ish” nature, rather than a manicured formal park.

2. The WONDERFUL rolling NATURAL LANDS of the former Children’s Home.

My husband and I purposely bought our house (after a 1.4-year search!) because it was right between the beauty of UMCH’s meadows and the Parklands’ wilderness.

3. The QUIET TREE-FILLED STREETS created by Worthington’s ingenious City Design of many discrete neighborhoods and few “through” streets.

4. The PEOPLE
Because Worthington is composed of comfortable single-family houses, people come here to live happily for 30-40 years, or–for us–the rest of our lives.
Somehow that makes Worthington magic, a truly special community of good hearts and kindly natures, where everyone cares for everyone else regardless of age or race or religion or political differences. And the People of Worthington taught us that, without even trying, let alone preaching. We came here as judgmental as young adults can be, and Worthington’s enchanting people opened our hearts to friendships far deeper than passing notions–however conscientiously we held them.
The People here are dear in infinite ways, and I always feel that even strangers are just friends I look forward to knowing. And they always are, each in a special way.

2. The WONDERFUL rolling NATURAL LANDS of the former Children’s Home which should be turned into a multi-use green space.

The downtown area is quaint, family friendly and easily walkable. The neighborhoods are a community where people watch out for one another. The city has a number of events to bring people together (Farmers Market, Sunday Fundays, Concerts on the Green, Art Fest, Market Day)

I’m not sure I feel treasure. I do like the convenience of location. The neighborhoods are clean and safe and the schools are a lot more extra than necessary.
